Fall Brings Out the Reader in All of Us

Did you know that fall is the most popular time to purchase a new book or two??

…let me paint you a little picture….

The smell of pine, spices, baking, teas and coffee float through the air and mingle with the orange, yellow, and red leaves. You pull out your light jacket and stroll down the street. A light breeze brushes your face and you can hint the cool of oncoming winter. The leaves rustle slightly on the trees and in the gutters. You stop in at a local bookstore/café to grab a Pumpkin Spice Chia Tea and a muffin. You notice a couple of books that you think might look interesting, you flip through them while you wait for your order. You really hadn’t planned on purchasing another new book however, so with a bit of hesitation you place them back on the shelf as the Barista calls your name. You walk out of the shop and onto the sidewalk thinking, ‘Maybe I will come back later and buy those books, if nothing else jumps out at me.’

As you walk along the streets, stopping in at the different stores, picking up a couple of items here and there that you needed or perhaps just wanted, your mind goes back to those books from this morning. ‘They did look like they would be good reads.’

The wind picks up a bit and it is beginning to sprinkle light rain drops on you. You have finished your shopping. ‘Quickly, you think, ‘It’s really starting to come down.’ You round the corner as it begins to rain harder, now coming down in large, splashing drops. You stop despite the rain, to look at the display window of the bookshop from this morning. The glow beckons warmly and you happily rush in. You head over to the books you spotted earlier.

‘You really can’t have too many books, right? And the kids are always thrilled when they get a new one…’ You think as you walk out of the bookstore, cheerful and excited to bring home new stories for you and the kids to enjoy. There really is nothing like a brand-new book to snuggle up with.
